CONVENTION PLANNING

After a pandemic-enforced two year hiatus, TwitchCon 2022 came back in style! The majority of livestreamers I've had the pleasure of developing relationships with decided to make the trek to sunny San Diego- from across the US and even Europe. As community manager and San Diego local, of course I had to ensure they had a stellar experience.

COMMUNITY MEETUP

Can you put a bunch of content creators together in a space and not have a community event?
LOCATION: Happy Does BarPROJECT LENGTH: 2 weeksPROJECT TYPE: event planningMISSION: Community meetup event for 15 creators (3 headliners)PRIMARY PLATFORMS: Twitch, DiscordPRIMARY TOOLS: Asana, Eventbrite, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva
Constraints
  • Coordinating creator schedules

  • Venue needed to be within walking distance of the convention

  • Venue needed to offer outdoor/open air seating

  • Venue needed to accommodate +100 attendees

Supplementals
  • Attendee RSVPs handled via Eventbrite

  • Event would be +18 up

Feedback, both directly and through Eventbrite's system, was extremely positive- and more than once cited as the highlight of the convention. It was the perfect cap to an action-packed week, and a pleasure to finally meet such talented creators face-to-face.And within weeks, I was hearing of all the exciting plans for next year's convention (after all, you can only fit so much into a single trip!)
